What Is

The Laptop Initiative

We work with companies to distribute unwanted laptops to registered charities working with our target audiences.
These are refugees and asylum seekers, disadvantaged youth and women suffering from domestic violence enabling them to obtain education, employment, connection and income.

How Our Laptop

Donations Work

Australian corporates turnover laptops every 3-4 years resulting in a cost for disposal and the need to fulfill their ESG obligations (Environment and Social Governance)
STEP 01
Our Corporate Heroes prep their laptops to ensure their data is wiped of data and the devices are ready to use.
STEP 02
If the Corporate Hero needs data wiping our strategic business partner ZOLO will provide all the security and documentation required.
STEP 03
We contact our Charity Partners to see where the need is greates and we distribute the laptops.
STEP 04
We will thank you profusely!

Words From Our Heroes

We want our Heroes to love us as much as we love them.

Our Valued

Charity Partners

Our Charity Partners help us distribute devices around Australia far and wide.
Why – we are not social workers, case workers or at the front line – and our Charity Partners always have a wait list for devices.
So unfortunately, we don’t take requests from
individuals seeking laptops.
Our Charity Partners work with women escaping
domestic violence, refugees and asylum seekers and disadvantaged youth.
We like to work with smaller grass roots charities that don’t have big budgets, lots of staff or resources – a bit
like us really.

Yes Linked In and Instagram and we would love to send you our newsletter
I want to thank you for visiting our website - I know your time is valuable and life makes many demands on you. I wish I could chat to you over coffee, share some stories and laugh. If you asked me the “why” of The Laptop Initiative I would tell you this. A friend recently asked me to close my eyes and imagine handing a laptop to someone who was desperately trying to build a new life. In my vision I don’t know if this person was a newly arrived refugee, a woman escaping domestic violence with her 5-year-old child or a homeless 15-year-old boy - but I saw a face. In their eyes was the deepest emotion and gratitude – and I cannot describe to you my emotion. It was in my chest and heart – I had no word for it and maybe one doesn’t exist. We don’t meet the recipients who receive our laptops as this part of the process is rightfully done by our amazing Charity Partners, but you know from now on, every time I am able to deliver a laptop to a charity I am going to think of this. Thank you for listening.
